SeeThisSpot – Improvements #1

The last couple of weeks have seen me get back into the groove in terms of making updates to SeeThisSpot.com, and I have to say I’m a little excited about it!

The single biggest improvement I could make is to remove the requirement to log in to Instagram in order to do a search. Removing this requirement means a few things:

  • It removes a barrier for people unwilling to log in and allow (yet another) website to use their credentials and perform actions on their behalf. Note: SeeThisSpot does NOT store any Instagram passwords, it merely uses them to obtain a key which is then used to perform searches like posts at your request only.
  • It makes the search process for new users that much more user friendly and will hopefully get more people using the site.
  • It makes sharing search results to Facebook or Twitter that much more effective, since actual search results can be used as a preview image. To share a page, you just have to copy/paste the URL at this stage, more advanced sharing functionality will be coming soon (for sharing directly to Facebook/Twitter)

You will still need to login if you wish to see more search results than the initial search returns, and of course, to like photos.

Anyone can check out these new changes on the test site, and I’ll soon be deploying them to the seethisspot.com. Stay tuned for MORE updates, and get busy searching!
